LONG TIME PARIS RESIDENT DIES
 

Mrs. Emma Sharlotte Price Clayton, 76, long time resident of Paris, died at her home there on May 30. She was born on September 7, 1880, the daughter of Robert Price and Susannah J W Price.  On June 8,m 1898, she was married to William N Clayton.  He died March 15, 1917.

An active member of the LDS Church, Mrs. Clayton worked as a counselor in MIA, she was an active member of the Relief Society music department for many years and also served as work director and visiting teacher.

Besides her husband Mrs. Clayton was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Leroy C (Miriam) Robertson of Alton Utah.  Surviving children include Mrs. Eugene (Susanna) Rich of Ashton, Robert Clayton and Arthur Clayton both of Montpelier; Harold Clayton of Whittier California; Willis Clayton of Pocatello, Mrs. John (Marguerite) Inglass of Alta Loma California and Mrs. Frank (Marie) Knutti of Salt Lake City.  Two sisters Mrs. Mercy P Kelsey and Mrs. Phoebe P Booth both of Salt Lake City and four brothers, Joseph S Price of Salt Lake City, George B Price, Heber J Price and Fred J Price, all of Paris, also survive, and 19 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted by Bishop Morris B Athay in the Paris First ward chapel on Monday at 1 pm.  Prelude and postlude were by Leonora Stucki; a quartet comprised of Darlene Rich, Jane Matthews, Floyd Lewis and Rollo Nye sang "Beautiful Isle" accompanied by Leanora Stucki; opening prayer J Henry Humphreys; remarks Bishop Athay; speaker Fred J Price; duet "In the Garden" Darlene Rich and Leanora Stucki accompanied by Jane Matthews; speaker Ezra Poulsen; tribute Daughter of Utah Pioneers by Catherine Innes; song "My Father Knows" quartet; closing prayer Fenton Allred.

Prayer in the home was by E Woodruff Stucki. Interment in the Paris cemetery was under the direction of Matthews Mortuary with dedication of the grave by Joseph Price.  Robert Clayton, Arthur Clayton, Harold Clayton, Willis Clayton, John Inglass and Frank Knutti were pall bearers and the Paris First Ward Relief Society was in charge of the flowers.
