MONTPELIER MATRON DIES IN OGDEN
 

Elnora Vilate Bridges, 81, died Monday in Ogden at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Clarey.  A long time Montpelier resident Mrs. Bridges had been living with her daughter during her illness the past seven months.  Mrs. Bridges was born September 24, 1875 at Bountiful Utah, the daughter of Charles Edward and Vilate Noble Kent.  When a child she accompanied her parents to Bear Lake, first living at Wardboro.  She married Thomas P Bridges on October 21, 1896 at Logan and they made their home in Montpelier.

A member of the LDS Church she was active in Relief Society and Primary and was religion class president for 11 years.  She was also active on the Old Folks committee.  Mr. Bridges died December 23, 1954 and she was also preceded in death by two daughters, Vernell Malone and Arthel Bryan.

Surviving are six children, Elgin S Bridges, Russell Bridges and Winston T Bridges, all of Montpelier; Mrs. Frank (Winifred) Clarey of Ogden, Mrs. Albert (Virginia) Paetsch of Soda Springs and Seldon F Bridges of Ogden; 22 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; three brothers Charles Kent of Logan, Leo Kent of Bend, Oregon, and Golden Kent of Othello Oregon and five sisters, Mrs. John Evans of Greenwich Connecticut, Mrs. Louis Turner of Grand Island, Nebraska, Mrs. A Covey of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Hugh Cassidy of San Francisco and Mrs. Gwendolyn Jones of New Jersey.

Funeral services conducted by Bishop Frank W Hirschi, were Wednesday at 1 pm in the Third ward chapel.  President Sidney E Burgoyne offered the opening prayer; opening song "In The Garden" Mrs. Reed Lowe, Mrs. Dean Larsen and Mrs. Eugene Wilcox, accompanied by Mrs. Lester Armatage; tribute to Mrs. Bridges Mrs. G W Irving; speaker Bishop John H Teuscher; vocal duet "That Wonderful Mother of Mine" Philip Hulme and Max Haddock accompanied by Mrs. Hulme; speaker President Walter A Hunzeker; closing song, vocal duet "That Silver Haired Mother of Mine" Mrs. Walter Hunzeker and President Winslow Swensen, accompanied by Mrs. Armatage; closing prayer Dr. Robert Burgoyne. Prelude and postlude were played by Mrs. Philip Hulme.

The prayer at the home was by Philip Hulme and the grave was dedicated by Elgin Bridges.  The Mathews Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
