NATIVE OF SWITZERLAND DIED
 

Mrs. Elizabeth Zmutt Loertscher, 77, Montpelier resident of 55 years died at 10:45 am Monday in the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital. The daughter of Christian and Elizabeth Ischer Zmutt, she was born August 6, 1878 in Switzerland. Converts to the LDS Church, she and her husband Gottlieb Loertscher, whom she married May 7, 1897 in Switzerland and three children arrived in America on June 1, 1901.

They came to Montpelier where Mrs. Loertscher had since resided. Mr. Loertscher preceded her in death on February 4, 1939.  Two sons Verner and Frederick died in infancy.  Mrs. Loertscher who devoted her life and effort to raising a large family, is survived by the following 12 children.

Mrs. G E (Louise) Berg of Salt Lake City, Mrs. H A (Alice) Peters of Downey California; Mrs. D M (Freda) Boyd and Mrs. Lee (Mary) Hollingsworth, both of San Francisco, Mrs. Magdalene Choate of Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. R H (Flora) Boehme of Geneva, Mrs. Elizabeth Mears of Salt Lake City, Gottlieb Loertscher of Salt Lake City, Fred and Ernest Loertscher of Montpelier, Eugene Loertscher of Long Beach and John Loertscher of Geneva.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Johanna) Bergen of Grass Valley, California and Mrs. Magdalene Hermann of Switzerland; 48 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 pm Friday in the Montpelier LDS Third Ward Chapel with Bishop Frank Hirschi conducting.  The Matthews Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
