Funeral service for the late Edward R Taylor, 83, a former resident of Montpelier, were held Monday. Mr. Taylor was born in Evansville, Indiana, on September 4, 1854. He entered the service of the Denver Pacific railroad, now part of the Union Pacific, as a fireman in 1875. He later entered the service of the Oregon Short Line in 1891 as a fireman. He left the service in 1902 to engage in the restaurant business in Montpelier. In 1906 he disposed of his interest in the restaurant to go to Boulder, Colorado, where he engaged in the mining business until the time of his death.
He is survived by one brother, F J Taylor of Bethal, Kansas, and two sons, John E Taylor of Montpelier and Gordon Taylor of Kemmerer, Wyoming, and one daughter, Mrs. W W Custer of Shoshone. Twelve grandchildren also survive. The services were held in the F M Williams Mortuary, with the Rev H E Stammer officiating. Music was furnished by the Community Church choir and F M Williams sang the solo, "Beautiful City" accompanied by Mrs. George Collipriest.
Members of the B of L F and E Lodge acted as pallbearers and the Ladies Auxiliary of that order had charge of the flowers.
