Edris Harrisison Beck, 95, returned to her Heavenly Father on
June 4, 2010. Edris was born on January 28, 1915 in Ivins, Idaho near Bancroft,
to Bartholomew and Morinda Martina Harrison. She was the fourth of six children.
Edris graduated from Downey High School and went on to get her associates degree
and and teaching certificate from Rick's College as well as a Bachelors of
Science at Utah State University.
She started teaching at the Ovid Elementary School in the fall of 1937. It was in Ovid that she met Alvin Lester Beck whom she married on May 13, 1942 in the Logan Utah Temple. To this marriage was born six children. In addition to raising five children, Edris taught for over 30 years in Ovid, Bloomington, Montpeliers, Georgetown and Paris. She was an active member of the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was called to Arizona Holbrook Mission after retirement. She was still teaching primary at the age of 85.
Edris is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, parents, five siblings and an infant daughter. She is survived by her brother, Fred Harrison, sons Carl (Gwynn), Marvin (Kay) and Clare (Mary) daughters Venna Kaye (Robert) Smith and Mardene (Ed) McGrath; 27 grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held June 8 at the Bern Ward Chapel. Interment was in the Paris Cemetery.
