Dead Log Springs

Information comes from Treasured Tidbits of Time Volume I by Jens Patrick Wilde

Dead Log Springs is located about one mile north of Meades peak.  It is the highest spring in the Montpelier section of the Caribou Forest.  The spring was discovered by Francis Bacon in 1875 while exploring along the mountain ridge.

He called it "Dead Log" because of a snarled and dead tree nearby.
