MEETS DEATH ON FIRST DAY OF INVASION

 

(Picture of Dale Bedell) Pvt. Dale Bedell, Montpelier native killed in invasion action.

Word was received here last Friday by relatives of the death of Pvt. Dale Bedell, 30 of Reno, Nevada, who was killed in action on the first day of the invasion in France, June 6.  He entered the service in 1943 and had previously seen action in Sicily.

Pvt. Bedell was born in Montpelier on May 4, 1914 and is the son of Clarisse Munford Bedell and Loyd bedell of Vallejo, California, former Montpelier residents and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Bedell of Montpelier and the late T M and Mary Emily Wright Mumford.  Other survivors are his wife and two children, one sister, Mrs. Faye Zmak of Reno and two brothers, Vern Bedell who is serving overseas and Tom Bedell of Reno.
