RITES ARE HELD FOR FORMER RESIDENT
Daisy Jones Nelson, 82, youngest and last survivor of 12 children born to Jacob and Collier Jones, early Montpelier pioneers, died September 12 in Salt Lake City. She was born December 31, 1876 in Montpelier and married Joseph Nelson on June 6, 1906. Mr. Nelson preceded her in death in 1945. Most of her married life was spent in Sonora California. Since her husband’s death she had lived in Salt Lake City with Mrs. H Deanne Miller, a niece. Mrs. Nelson was a sister of the late Frank J Jones of Montpelier. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 2 pm Tuesday in the Matthews Mortuary chapel under the direction of the Montpelier second ward bishopric. Musical numbers included two duets by Alta Sanderson and Harold Brower, both of Freedom Wyoming, and a vocal solo by Mrs. Waldo Andersen. They were accompanied by Mrs. Lester Armatage, who also played the prelude and postlude. Elmer Burgoyne was the speaker. The invocation was by Clarence Swensen and benediction by Jesse Dunn.
Interment was in the Montpelier cemetery, where the grave was dedicated by John
Stephens. Pall bearers were H Deanne Miller, DeWitt Brown, Clinton Oakley,
Winston Groo, Owen Stephens and Abe Van Orman. Matthews Mortuary was in charge
of arrangements.
