SERVICES HELD FOR FORMER RESIDENT
Funeral services were held on Saturday in the Matthews Mortuary for the late Mrs. Edward (Christine Kunzler) Grunig, 84, who died on March 25 in a nursing home in Caldwell. Mrs. Grunig, a longtime resident of Montpelier was born December 20, 1873 in St Gallen, Switzerland and came to the United States with her parents when nine years of age. She married Carl Edward Grunig at Dingle in 1891 and he died April 19, 1935. Thirteen children were born to the union, six preceding her in death.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. H (Nan) Saunders, Glenn Ferry; Mrs. R (Grace) Rinehart, Pondosa Oregon; Mrs. D R (Hazel) Doxey, Ogden; Mrs. F (LaVon) Larsen, Weiser; Mrs. E (LeRene) Anderson, Prineville Oregon; two sons Charles E Grunig of Montpelier and Wilford Grunig of Nyssa, Oregon; also 24 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren as well as two sisters, Mrs. Alfred (Annie) Stoner of Montpelier and Mrs. Lizzie O'Neil of Emmett.
Bishop Leland J Muir of the Montpelier second ward was in charge of the services and offered the opening prayer; vocal duet, "Come Unto Me and Rest" Max and Paul Haddock, accompanied by Mrs. Lester Armatage; remarks, H G Nuckols; vocal solo "The Lord's Prayer" Max Haddock; remarks, Bishop Alvin Tueller; vocal duet "In the Garden" Mrs. Eugene Wilcox and Mrs. Reed Lowe; closing prayer, James Whinham. Prelude and postlude were by Mrs. Armatage.
Interment was in the Montpelier cemetery, where
the grave was dedicated by Nile Matthews.
