BEAR LAKE COUNTY'S ELDEST RESIDENT DIES
 

Christian Tueller, 95, a resident of Bear Lake county for 75 years, died Sunday at 10 am in Geneva at the home of his son, Lyman N Tueller.  Death was due to causes incident to age.  Mr. Tueller had spent the winter in Logan at the home of a son, Lamont E Tueller and had been in Geneva since April 20.  He was Bear Lake county's eldest resident at time of death.

Mr. Tueller was born August 18, 1862 in Oberwyl, Canton Bern, Switzerland, a son of Jacob and Margaretha Kunz Tueller.  he emigrated to Utah in 1876 after joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He was a pioneer builder and brick mason in Paris and helped build most of the older brick buildings in Bear Lake county.  He also worked on both the Manti and St George LDS Temples as well as other large buildings in Utah, Arizona, and Idaho.

Mr. Tueller was an active worker in the LDS church all his life.  He served on the Paris First Ward bishopric for 14 years and was a member of the Bear Lake Stake High Council for many years and died genealogical work.  He served on the Paris city council and was a school trustee.

Mr. Tueller married Elizabeth Von Almen April 2, 1890 in the Logan LDS Temple.  She died April 7, 1929.  They were the parents of 12 children, 10 of whom survive him, eight sons and two daughters; Adeline E Tueller and Reed O Tueller, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Wallace W (Minerva) Teuscher and Alvin C Tueller, Montpelier; William V Tueller and Lamont E Tueller, Logan, Lyman N Tueller, Geneva; Tulon S Tueller, Pocatello, Golden R Tueller, Mesa Arizona; and Dallas A Tueller, Fresno, California; 47 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday at 1 pm in the Bear Lake stake tabernacle, conducted by Glen P Ward, bishop of the Paris First Ward. Prayer at the Paris First Ward chapel was by Wallace W Teuscher and the prelude and postlude were by Leonora Stucki.

The opening song was by a quartet of Darlene Rich, Jane Matthews, John Spencer and Rollo Nye, accompanied by Mrs. Stucki; prayer Emil Von ALmen; obituary prepared by Christine Tueller, read by Carol Tueller Mattson; speaker, Bishop Clarence Rich; vocal solo "I Shall Not Pass Again This Way" Mrs. Walter Hunzeker, accompanied by Mrs. Lester Armatage; speaker Orson Grimmett; speaker E Woodruff Stucki; vocal solo "Beside the Still Waters" Bonnie seeholzer, accompanied by Mrs. Stucki; speaker Eldon Cook; remarks Bishop Ward; song "I Know My Heavenly Father Knows" quartet; benediction Vivian Nye.

The dedication of the grave was by G J Tueller and pallbearers were grandsons, Daren Tueller, Scott Tueller, Arilin Tueller, Rodney Tueller, Alden Tueller and Larry Tueller.  The Matthews Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
