Charles Clarence Nicholls “Nic”, 94, passed away on Feb. 2, 2013 at the Bear
Lake Memorial Hospital in Montpelier, Idaho of natural causes incident to age,
surrounded by his family. He was born on May 12, 1918 in Sheridan, Wyo. to
Joseph Nicholls and Minnie Mabel Beam of Scotland and English heritage. Nic grew
up in Sublet, Wyo., Las Vegas, and Montpelier.
He served in the army infantry as a paratrooper. Charles was a jack of many
trades. He worked at Monsanto for 17 years and was the owner of many small
businesses. Nic loved the work and projects he created with his own hands. He
enjoyed hunting and fishing and watching things grow, especially pine trees and
rose bushes.
Nic was sealed for time and eternity to Eva Wyona Johnson in 1941 in the Salt
Lake Temple. They were married for 19 years at which time Wyona passed on. Nic
was sealed to Margie Jensen Wood on Jan. 30, 1961 in the Logan Temple. They have
been married 52 years.
Nic was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Delphard and Elizabeth
“Tiny”, spouse Eva Wyona Johnson, stepson Bruce (Nell) Wood and
great-granddaughter Amber Nicole Castro.
Nic is survived by his wife Margie of Montpelier, his children Charles Fay
(Gwen) Nicholls, Sheila (Herb) Cleary, Mary Ann (Gary Dunford), Chad (Jody)
Wood, Gaylen (Luska) Wood, Wendy Marie (Wayne) Penrose and his many
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Montpelier Third Ward at noon, Wednesday,
Feb. 6. Family and friends may call prior to the funeral at 10 a.m. at the
church. Burial will follow at the Ovid Cemetery.
