WILL NOT OPEN CANYON HIGHWAY
The Montpelier Chamber of Commerce held its regular meeting in the Burgoyne Hotel last Friday at noon, with President Harold Vance Presiding.
It was also brought to the attention of the chamber that the Montpelier Canyon road has been blocked with snow for some time. The secretary of the chamber was instructed to write the district highway engineer to ascertain what might be expected in the way of clearing the road and a reply was received from that office as follows:
"Please be advised that it is not the intention of this department to keep this highway open during the winter months, as it taxes our maintenance fund to the limit to keep the main highways open for travel."
