CABLEGRAM TELLS NEWS OF DEATH OF CECIL SHIRLEY

Word was received in Fish Haven Monday by cablegram of the death of Cecil Shirley, killed in an automobile accident in Australia on September 22.  He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Shirley of Fish Haven, who are temporarily residing in Evanston, Wyoming.  Besides his parents he is survived by one brother, Evan Shirley and two sisters, Norma and Dalice Shirley; his grandparents Mrs. Rose S Stock of Fish Haven and Mr. and Mrs. George L Langford of Garden City.

Born at Fish Haven June 19, 1918, Mr. Shirley lived there until the time of his enlistment, November 1940.  During his training at Spokane he was first engaged in the quartermaster division and had one brief furlough, which he spent in Bear Lake county.  Later he signed up as an airplane mechanic and was immediately transferred into foreign service.  he has been stationed in Australia all of 1942 and had written many letters home about his fine experiences there.

The cablegram gave no details of the accidental death but said a more detailed account would follow by letter.
