LIFELONG OVID RESIDENT DIES
Caroline Marie Olsen, 73, life long resident of Bear Lake county, died at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot at 7 pm on November 26. She had been hospitalized there the past eight weeks following a stroke. She was born on March 12, 1884 in Ovid, the daughter of Jens C and Karen Marie Neilson Olsen, pioneers settlers, the third child in the family of nine children.
In her earlier life she was active in the LDS Church, serving in the MIA, Primary and Relief Society and was also a leader in 4-H work. A seamstress by occupation she was never married.
She is survived by six brothers and sisters, Mrs. John J (Christine) Tueller of Ogden; James C Olsen of Montpelier, Mrs. Sina Ackroyd of Price Utah; Hyrum P Olsen of Ovid; Mrs. Hyrum (Dorothy) Anderson of Salt Lake City; and Mrs. Maretta O Keller of Blackfoot. Miss Olsen went to Blackfoot to be with her sister, Mrs. Keller, last February.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 pm Saturday from the Ovid chapel by Bishop Russell Sorenson.
Prayer with the family was led by James Olsen; prelude and postlude music, Ivy Jensen; "Farewell All Earthly Honors" by Relief Society Singing Mothers; invocation Mitchell Beck; an obituary and tribute by a niece, Eva Lynch; speaker Bishop Sorenson; vocal duet "In The Garden of Tomorrow" Lenora Stucki and John Spencer with Nina Sorenson as accompanist; speakers Amy Shurtliff and President William K Matthews; song "Prayer Perfect" Singing Mothers; benediction, Willard Johnson. The pall bearers were nephews. Roland Tueller, Merl Keller, Evan Olsen, Lyle Olsen, Robert Olsen, Kay Olsen. Floral tributes were arranged by the Ovid Relief Society with Mrs. Nina Sorenson in charge.
Interment was in the family plot in the Ovid
cemetery with dedication of the grave by John Tueller.
