DIES MONDAY IN PARIS

Mrs. Caroline Beulah Hess Bird, 64, died Monday in Paris at the home of her daughter Mrs. Dallas Athay, following a long illness.  She was born July 15, 1892 in Paris, the daughter of Caroline Jensen and Marvin Adelbert Allred.  She was married on June 8, 1910 to John Arthur Hess in the LDS Temple at Logan.  He died August 20, 1942.  She married Walter Bird on May 15, 1946 in the Logan Temple.

At the age of six years she moved with her parents to Montpelier and lived here four years.  The family then moved to Randolph Utah, returning to Paris when she was 14 and where she spent most of her life.  She attended Fielding Academy.  Active in LDS Church she served in the Paris First Ward Mutual 17 years and in the Primary presidency two years.  On moving into the Paris Second ward, served in the Mutual another two years and also as Primary secretary.

Surviving are her husband and three children, Mrs. Dallas (LaPriel) Athay of Paris, Weldon A Hess of Chesterfield and Ferris M Hess of Montpelier.  She is also survived by three step children, Bedford Bird of Knoxville Tennessee, Mrs. Homer (Leah) Tunks of Portland Oregon and Ronald Bird of Columbia Missouri; 15 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ernest Spating and Mrs. O L Wright, both of Preston and Mrs. Karma Benson of American Falls; and one half sister, Mrs. Effie Thomander of Salt Lake City.

Services will be held at 1:30 pm Friday in the Paris Second ward chapel.  Interment will be in the Paris cemetery with the Matthews Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
