RICH GOLD STRIKE MADE NEAR MONTPELIER

B F Small discovered some exceedingly rich gold bearing rock up Montpelier Canyon about 10 miles east of town.

The discovery was made by Mr. Small tow weeks ago while he was out hunting.  He brought in several pieces of surface rock and sent them to a Boise chemist to be assayed.  While the rock looked good to Mr. Small, he was greatly surprised when the returns from the assayer showed $4.13 in gold to the ton and .40 cents in silver.
