DEATH
DIED-Saturday, April 17, 1897, at her home in this city, Mrs.
Jacob Williams, aged 50 years. Once more it becomes the sorrowful duty of the
Examiner to chronicle the death of a loving wife, a fond mother and an estimable
lady, in the person of Mrs. Jacob Williams.
She had been a sufferer for months from a cancer in the breast. Last year an operation was performed on her in Salt Lake in the hope that this ailment might be arrested in its progress, but it proved ineffectual. Recently she grew rapidly worse and another trip was made to Salt Lake but the physicians there advised her that nothing could be done for her relief. She was barely able to be brought home arriving in the early part of last week. Saturday death came to relieve the mortal body of its afflictions. All of the members of her family were present at the last moment.
The deceased was born in West Virginia 50 years ago and has lived in Montpelier about fifteen years. The deep sorrow into which her husband and seven children have been plunged is shared by hosts of friends. The funeral took place from the Latter Day Saints church Monday of which faith she was an earnest believer and a devoted worker. A long procession of carriages of friends followed the remains to their last resting place.
Card of Thanks
Our hearts sorrow has been greatly lightened by the many kind acts of innumerable friends during the illness and death of our beloved wife and other and we desire in this manner to extend to these friends our deep gratitude and thanks for their loving kindness, assuring them that the memory of these will remain as the one bright spot in our hour of gloom.
