RETIRED TEACHER
Annie M Lauridsen, 83, retired Montpelier school teacher, died at
8:15 am Tuesday in the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital following an illness of
several months. A daughter of Thomas Lauridsen and Catherine Jensen, she was
born December 3, 1886 in Ovid. When an infant the pioneer family moved to
Montpelier where she had since resided. She attended the early grades in
Montpelier elementary school, took 7th and 8th grades at the Presbyterian
Mission School in Paris, graduated in 1910 from the Presbyterian Collegiate
Institute in Salt Lake City (since named Westminster College) and from the
Albion Normal at Albion, Idaho.
Before beginning her long tenure in the Montpelier school system, Miss Lauridsen taught one year at Wardboro and one year at Georgetown. She retired in 1947. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and served as Sunday School superintendent for the local congregation for 17 years. She belonged to Hope Rebekah Lodge No 20 and was a past noble grand having served in all offices. She was a past worthy matron of Betsy Ross Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and also belonged to Montpelier Kensington Club.
Surviving are two brothers and two sisters, Mary Lauridsen, S T (Ves) Lauridsen and J W (Bill) Lauridsen all of Montpelier and Mrs. Karl A (Merinda) Horne of Thornton Idaho. Services will be at 1 pm Friday in the Montpelier Community Presbyterian Church.
