Anna Redman
Montpelier Examiner, Wednesday, 15 December 1897, page 3
Last week the Examiner mentioned the death of Mrs. James Redman at Salt Lake on December 7th. She had undergone an operation for cancer, the fourth in the last two years from which she never rallied.
Mrs. Redman was born in Brooklyn New York, September 13, 1859 and was therefore a few weeks past 38 years of age. She was married to Mr. Redman at Green River Wyoming in March 1883, coming directly to this city and residing here ever since. The deceased was well known to almost everyone in this city and was highly esteemed by all for her noble and lovable character. Although a sufferer for a long time, she bore her affliction with great fortitude. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge of this city and also a member of the Gem of the Mountain reading club, being an active worker in both societies.
For two weeks prior to her death she had been in Salt Lake in the hope of obtaining relief and prolonging life but to no avail. For two years she had been almost constantly under the care of the best physicians in the west and everything in the power of human hands had been done for her.
The funeral took place from the Catholic church in this city Thursday, the edifice being unable to hold half of those who followed the remains. The funeral services were conducted by Rev Father Hendricks.
