Mrs. Niels Mattson, who would have been 85 years old January 1 died Monday evening at St Charles after an illness which had confined her to bed the past six years. Mrs. Mattson had no immediate survivors; her husband died 11 years ago. She raised six orphan children and was highly respected in the community for her charitable and kind deeds.
Funeral services were held Wednesday. Mrs. Mattson is an aunt of Mrs. W G Phelps of Montpelier.

Funeral services were held November 9 at one pm in the St Charles ward chapel for Mrs. Anna Olsen Mattson who was born January 13, 1854 in Skarby, Sweden. The services opened by the choir singing "Sister Thou Art Mild and Lovely" invocation by Alvin Peterson; "Beautiful City" choir; speakers, E W Allred, Mrs. S O Arnell; solo, "Face to Face" Emery Welling; remarks, E C Keetch; duet "Cast Thy Bread Upon the Waters" Mr. and Mrs. Whitney Transtrum; closing remarks, Bishop Henry Monson; song "Oh My Father" by the choir; benediction Heber Keetch. S O Arnell dedicated the grave.
During the six years that Mrs. Mattson was confined to her be, she was taken care of by her niece, Mrs. Alice Linford.
