Montpelier Examiner, Friday, 11 January 1918, page 1
ONLY WOMAN
A former Montpelier girl has the distinction of being the only
woman train dispatcher in the United States. The lade in question is Miss Anna
Belle Glenn, a daughter of I T Glenn and granddaughter of Thomas L Glenn of this
city. Miss Glenn was born in Paducah Kentucky, but when quite young came to
Montpelier with her parents and resided here for a number of years.
Miss Anna Belle Glenn, who is probably the only woman train dispatcher in the United States, is stationed at Hugo, Okla. Miss Glenn was formerly a telegrapher on the division for a number of years. She worked in the chief dispatchers office at Fort Smith and Hugo, as dispatch clerk while learning the work of train dispatcher. Her services in this capacity, Superintendent Baltzell states, are perfectly satisfactory and she is one of the most efficient employees on the line.
