Resident of Georgetown Dies

Mrs. Alice Budge Clark, 62, wife of Marvin E Clark and resident of Georgetown for 41 years, died Monday in the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital.  A daughter of Arthur and Alice Athay Budge, early residents and leaders of Bear Lake Valley, she was born August 3, 1892 in Paris.  She was the granddaughter of William Budge, prominent pioneer civic and LDS leader in Utah and Idaho.

She graduated from Fielding Academy at Paris in 1914 where she won honors in debating and dramatics.  Following her marriage to Mr. Clark on June 10, 1914 in the LDS Temple at Logan, the couple established their home in Georgetown.  There Mrs. Clark achieved distinction as a church and community leader.  She served many years in various teaching and executive positions in the LDS Church auxiliary organizations and was also active in civic affairs.  Especially gifted as a leader of young people, she will be remembered by hundreds for her guidance as a drama director and teacher.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Clark is survived by two sons, M Floyd Clark of Georgetown and Bruce B Clark of Provo; two daughters Mrs. Grove (Roma) Phelps of Bennington and Mrs. John (Reola) Miele of New York City; three sisters, Mrs. J R Pugmire of Logan, Mrs. Nora Cole of San Francisco and Mrs. Francis M Bowen of Missoula, Montana; one half sister, Mrs. Thelma Browning of Paris; three half brothers, Preston and Donald of Salt Lake City, and Vernon Budge of Arlington Virginia; and 15 grandchildren.

Services were held today (Thursday) at 1 pm in the Georgetown Ward Chapel with Bishop Newell Passey conducting.  The Matthews Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
