ALFRED A HART DIES ON TUESDAY
Alfred A Hart, 83, died at 11:15 am Tuesday at this home in Bloomington. Mr. Hart was hale and hearty and engaged in many activities until suffering slight aliments a few days prior to his sudden death. A native and lifelong resident of Bloomington, he was born October 9, 1871, the son of James H and Sabina Scheib Hart. Mr. Hart engaged in farming and stock raising.
Mr. Hart was a leader in the LDS Church, active in state and county politics, taught school and served his village in various capacities. He graduated from the USAC at Logan in 1897. He filled a mission for the LDS Church in Wisconsin and Michigan from 1901 to 1903 and during part of this time was president of the Milwaukee branch. He was a member of the Bloomington Ward bishopric for 19 years, during which time he was bishop for 14 years; member of the stake presidency for about 14 years; and was Bear Lake Stake Patriarch at time of death, a position he held for 16 years.
He was Bear Lake county's Republican state senator for two terms, having been elected in 1918 and 1934; served four terms as county commissioner; was county school superintendent for several terms, taught school for 12 years at various placed in the county; was president of the Bloomington Irrigation company for 20 years and secretary of the Bloomington Village board for a like period.
He was married to Sarah Cecilia Patterson October 11, 1905 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Surviving are his widow and the 11 children born to this union; Mrs. Harold W (Ruth) Lundell of Vernal Utah; Mrs. J T (Flora) Wollston, Mrs. Dorsal (Norma) Anderson and Douglas B Hart all of Salt Lake City; Alfred B and Eugene A Hart, both of Bloomington; Dr. Phillip J Hart of Logan, Heber J Hart of Bountiful, Mrs. Raymond (Lillian) Carr of Barryton Michigan; and Lawrence P Hart of Murray Utah. Also surviving are a brother, James E Hart of Salt Lake City and 42 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 pm Saturday in the Bloomington ward chapel. The Matthews Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
