RITES ARE HELD FOR AGNES M CHENEY
 

Agnes M Cheney, 82, Montpelier resident for 51 years and wife of Charles D Cheney, died at 11:45 pm Sunday in the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital of causes incident to age.  She was born May 24,1876 in Washington Co Iowa, the daughter of Buford F and Susan Waddell Thurman.  She and Mr. Cheney were married June 18, 1908 in Salt Lake City and the couple made their home in Montpelier, where she has since resided.  She was a member of the Methodist Church and Betsy Ross Chapter Nov 17, Order of Eastern Star in which she held various offices in earlier years.  She was a member of the G T club for many years.

Surviving are her husband, who retired July 1, 1952 following 45 years service as a representative of the Salt Lake Hardware Company, and son Charles G Cheney, president of the Salt Lake Parking company, Salt Lake City.  Also surviving are a sister Mrs. Effie M Williams of Long Beach, California; one granddaughter Mrs. Dan D (Carolyn) Firmage and a great granddaughter, Elizabeth M Firmage, both of Salt Lake City.

Services were held at 2 pm Wednesday in the Community Presbyterian Church with the Reverend G Eldred Kelley officiating.  Mrs. Reed Lowe sang “In The Garden” and Max Haddock “The Lord's Prayer” Mrs. E C Jenson conducted rites of Betsy Ross Chapter OES. Interment was in the Montpelier cemetery.  Pall bearers were H G Nuckols, F W Sorgatz, R L Perkins, J D McClellan, Clair Barrett and Alan Koford.  Matthews Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
